Get Much More Productive with A Faster Windows OS

Old PCs which comes with old Window programs are probably slower. Yet, this does not mean that you should go on and determine the new computer models in town.

While not everybody would agree, old computer programs are easier to make use of. Their conveniences lie in their own simplicity. It is normal for old computers to be a little bit slow. But then again if your personal computer takes 15 minute booting up and another 10 minutes to load even a basic Microsoft Office program then something is wrong with your PC. Try doing the following speed up Windows tips:

> Get rid of any unused programs.
Your computer may be keeping applications that havent been used for years. Scan the programs listed in the add/remove programs menu in the control panel. Uninstall the programs you have not used for some time. This will make your PC faster.

> Update drivers.
Hardware drivers take up minor space but they dictate the speed of your Windows accessories. There have been a lot of improvements in the drivers of hardware over the years. Connect to the the Web and look for updates for them. This guideline always speed up Windows 2000 and ME.

> Get rid of starting Windows message.
Windows 95 and 98 has this particular starting windows message that prolongs computer booting. Delete this option to speed up Windows 98. Select to C:\ and look for Msdos.sys, right click on it and deselect the read-only option. Open the file in Notepad, select over to text Options inside the file. Add: Add BootDelay-0. You can also choose to make your booting|want to change your PC booting quicker by setting add Logo=0 to remove the heavy Windows logo throughout start-up.

> Optimize start menu.
Speed up Windows by having instant access to your start menu. Hit on Start and select Run. Type Regedit inside the bar and press Enter. Go to the Registry editor folder named HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop. If you see a MenuShowDelay, double click it and change the value of data field to 0. This will load Start program without any delay at all.

> Turn off active desktop.
For Windows 98, access the Display Properties settings and switch to Web tab. Unchoose the option for View my Active Desktop as a Web Page. This easy step will definitely speed up your Windows 98.
