This is one unbelievable movie. No, you don’t have to be familiar with the series to devour it, but the familiarity will fabricate several moments in the movie that grand more tragic. The action here is unbelievable, and unlike several of the Star Run movies, the characters don’t deviate from their series personnas. The emotional impact of several scenes is so intense it was hard to quit seated (a wreck landing sequence can almost give you motion sickness) . This brings a satisfying kill to the storyline the novel series had started. It’s a shame the display never got to mumble this tale in its entirety. You can discover where some parts of the movie are rushed in a intention. Something that could have been stretched over weeks in a series had to be handled in minutes, and that robs it a runt. But you have to applaud Whedon for being able to tie up all the loose ends he started with fair two hours. Shame on the network for cancelling this, but congratulations to Whedon for giving the fans–both old-fashioned and new–the ending the expose deserved. Heroes will shine, and some will tumble, but Serenity will live on.

And that is exactly what the film version of “Serenity” is. I bought the 4 individual seasons of this series at a higher label, and felt it was worth over $40 for all of them. This is a titanic old series which has mature very well. The stories are all nice dinky adventures that tranquil play out quite well in the original era. There is minimal violence and the actors are all very well-behaved in their roles. After watching all of the episodes, I’m impressed by the variety of stories that were told. Obviously, the endings are graceful cheerful, but that doesn’t have to be seen as a unpleasant thing.

Note that the series is in dismal and white, and there is some sound volume and quality fluctuation, but nothing that makes it hard to understand or unwatchable. If you like charming feeble adventure movies, I’d strongly recommend buying this collection.

If there are seemingly holes in the record it is because we, the audience, are never quite certain about the twists and turns of the residence. The acting is helpful from this cast of some of France’s finest artists, and one of the best performances in the film comes from British actress Kristin Scott Thomas, reminding us that she is one of the most talented and comely actors on the shroud today! This is a very though-provoking thriller, in the tradition of American films like The Fugitive, but with a novel edge that makes it distinctively French and deliciously diabolical. It is certainly darker (and funnier) than The Fugitive, but it is no accident that there is an American feel, since it is based on a book by Harlan Coben.

Director Guillaume Canet keeps you guessing as the situation thickens, revealing bits and pieces of the past as novel circumstances benefit Beck to perceive that he didn’t know his wife as well as he had concept.

The film looks tremendous, with editing and camera work that helps to enact a perfect balance of subtle tension and intensity. The performances are all very strong — and there is a surprisingly intense performance by a bit player, a certain and remorseless grand and skinny female assassin/torture expert, that calm haunts me. In fact, I would go as far as to say that her performance created one of the most horrid villians I’ve seen on the veil in a long time — even more than the performance of Javier Bardem as Chigurh in No Country for Primitive Men — because it was impartial as intense but more plausible. Definitely recommended for lovers of French Cinema, but also for those who mediate that French films tend to be too cerebral and cannot yelp the thrills. This one hits you in both the brain and the gut.

You would assume that the movie being reviewed here was a lame 50’s or 70’s B movie entitle “Attack of the Killer Blonde Bimbos” or something to that accomplish. I recently got a chance to opinion this entire film the other night and all I’ve got to say is “Man! This is a primary lesson of not listening to the negative reviews before getting a chance to peek the movie!! And, dismal to say, this is exactly what kept me from seeing this movie for so long. I made the mistake of listening to all the negative ink about it. I can guarantee you that you will collect this film at least very likable. The account is reliable and so is the acting, even though there may be a couple of hokey parts in the film. Most of it, though, is highly luscious and VERY believable. This has to be one best, as well as underrated, sci-fi films ever made. Definitely worth at least one viewing and definitely better than “Red Planet”!

After having viewed the film at a cinema during its initial release, I purchased the DVD when it became available. I enjoyed the acting, the characters, the CGI, the music and the epic. In short, I was entertained. Others have chosen to provide harsh comments. Personally, I enjoyed the film. I happen to be a science-fiction author and I like a advantageous record. What remains, however, are Sabu and the overall acquire of the film, both of which are quite mighty. The sets, particularly the complex jungle and “lost city” scenes, are both remarkably blooming and beautifully photographed, and the firestorm that climaxes the film retains mighty power.

Unfortunately, however, there doesn’t really seem a single DVD edition of the film that presents the film in its pudgy 1942 glory. JUNGLE BOOK is among a number of illustrious films that has fallen into public domain–and the result is a host of incredibly dire releases to the home market. I have seen, either in fat or in fraction, at least a half-dozen DVD releases of the film, and in each instance the colors are extremely muddy and the describe very fuzzy, often to a point at which the movie is virtually unwatchable. And sadly, given the obscurity of the film in the wake of the common Walt Disney consuming feature, we are very unlikely to survey anything better.

I give this film five stars because it’s a gem. I do NOT give the DVD release any stars whatsoever. This is one of those dejected films that fell through the cracks into Public Domain (like FLYING DEUCES and ROYAL WEDDING) and has been languishing in shoddy releases ever since. The source print(s) for this DVD leave us with a muddy recount whose Technicolor splendor is reduced at times to sepia or even unlit and white and whose soundtrack is consistently noisy.

The movie is exquisite and in many ways honorable to the far more unique remake with Jason Scott Lee (who deserves another noble movie, but that’s another matter entirely) . Sabu, at 18 or so, was palatable and at his boyishly charming peak. So why can’t someone occupy the concern to locate a pristine print or negative (as they did with FLYING DEUCES) and digitally restore this classic to its unusual glory? Surely there are enough of us in the world to purchase it that the project would be worthwhile!

Like most of Doug Pray’s films (Scratch, Surfwise, Colossal Rig), he takes a subculture that has strong negative connotations and puts a human face to it. Like most people, I have had mixed feeling about graffiti. I’ve seen some astonishing murals by graf artists, but the signature scrawls you watch everywhere tend to piss me off. But after I saw this film, at least now I peruse at it in a different method. Grand stuff. I will never peer at graffiti the same method again.

Infamy is a gracious documentary style graff film that takes the time to really justify what graffiti writers are about. This is not impartial a ‘piece’ reel to showcase styles from different areas (Graffiti Verite’), nor is it a fictional movie with a residence (aka Bomb the System) . Infamy details the motivations and ambitions of some distinguished writers earn around the country. On the surface “Peer Relieve in Inflame” is a very bleak relate which I wouldn’t contemplate I would love. I was not a enormous fan of “The Entertainer”, another adaptation of a downbeat play by John Osborne. Osborne and director Tony Richardson should be thankful for the calibre of the performances of the principle actors here that have made this a worthwhile enterprise. It’s not honest in the sililoquies that he rails against his space in life that are akin to Shakespeare. Burton’s eyes display all the rage and self-hatred. Mary Ure as Porter’s long-suffering wife, Allison, quietly demonstrates the distress of loving someone who is incapable of like. Claire Bloom is superior as Allison’s no-nonsense friend Helena who despite her better judgement falls prey to the indescribable spell that Jimmy casts on women who should know better. Gary Raymond as Cliff, Jimmy’s best friend, does commendable work here as well. Also powerful is Donald Pleasance as Hurst, the overbearing market inspector. This film could very well be a relic of the wrathful young man period of British film but holds up because of the quality of the acting.

First, one of the other reviews for this film seems to be stating that Burton played Jimmy Porter on stage. This is not correct. Osborne’s autobiography describes Burton as needing a serious career boost after his previous toga films had gotten him nowhere (though, tranquil, Osborne then says it was Burton’s name that got the film financed) . Burton took on the film for very minute money (and, yes, he is too weak for the allotment.) Mary Ure is the only actor from the stage production. (And at this unhurried date it seems a sizable loss Alan Bates didn’t reprise Cliff in the film.) My thanks to the reviewer who mentioned Pauline Kael’s review. It certainly makes me reconsider how great power the film had in its time. But smooth everyone seems to be missing the point of the epic. It isn’t a used triangle. The play greatly upset the establishment in its day because it is an violent assault on class and cultural issues of the time. Jimmy is not a working-class hero. Kenneth Tynan described him as piece of the “non-U intelligensia” but this is nefarious. The film mentions, though perhaps doesn’t gain determined, that Jimmy has been to college, a very mediocre college. His working a sweets barrel is section of his rejection of the social order. But it is his marriage that is the central class conflict, as his wife, Alison, is from a very reliable family, father an stale soldier returned from India, brother at Sandhurst, surely some day an MP. Her family instantly rejected Jimmy, and Jimmy resents Alison’s inability to decisively determine sides, hates her for even writing letters to her mother. Alison believes Jimmy decided to marry her only after her parents rejected him. A previous reviewer states Osborne gives us some pop psychology to account for Jimmy � Jimmy, when a boy, watches his father die � but one thing Osborne should never be accused of is being faddish. The point is that Jimmy’s father died upon returning from fighting in Spain, dying for a cause, while his mother didn’t care. It explains Jimmy’s sense that there is no cause to fight for. Also it has left Jimmy a deep thought in honoring the uninteresting, and this, in turn, causes him to feel Alison betrays him when she fails to appear at the funeral for Ma Tanner, his surrogate mother, the woman who bought him the sweets stall. (Spoiler warning) . This choose on death is what makes the ending meaningful when Alison miscarriages. It is why Jimmy cannot impartial be a bastard who dismisses his wife.

In some ways I retract the filmed version of the play done years later by Lindsay Anderson with Malcom McDowell (though he too was too old-fashioned for Jimmy) . Oh, and reviewers please tag, you won’t regain the phrase “mad young man” in the play. It was never a phrase Osborne liked. It was invented by the promotions man at the Royal Court Theater.

Director/writer John Hughes is one of those Hollywood success stories who has left in his wake a heap of accepted and often captivating films, leaving an indelible imprint on motion describe history. He may not have won a ton of awards, but the regular folks (as opposed to film snobs) adore his work and have made him a very wealthy man. A list of his better known films would have to inaugurate with “Home Alone” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” and would continue with “The Breakfast Club,” “Lovely in Pink,” “Planes, Trains, & Automobiles,” and “Sixteen Candles,” as well as many others.

This particular John Hughes film stars John Candy as Uncle Buck, the kind of character Candy specialized in. He’s a middle-aged kid who can’t seem to secure a proper reason to salvage any responsibility in life. As he says in one scene, “People musty to say to me, ‘Buck, you’ve got it made. You’ve got no kids, no wife, no office, no desk, no boss, nothing to tie you down. You’ve really got it made.’ Well, they don’t say that to me any more.”

Among Hughes’s “coming of age” pictures, this one is modern. The coming of age is usually a teen or preteen. Here’s it’s Uncle Buck who is coming of age. His brother and sister-in-law have to leave town for a few days to tend his brother’s ailing father-in-law, and they are absolutely devoid of babysitters…except for Uncle Buck, the embarrassing relation they have chosen to avoid until now. Their three kids include 15-year-old Tia (Jean Louisa Kelly, now seen on TV’s “Yes, Dear,” in her film debut), 8-year-old Miles (Macaulay Culkin, his first major film role and the one that inspired Hughes to give him his next major role in a diminutive something called “Home Alone”), and 6-year-old Gaby Hoffman (shortly before she played the child lead in “Sleepless in Seattle”) .

You can practically write the film yourself from there, to a point. Buck has to be responsible for the kids, falls in adore with them, is a far better (and grand, grand funnier) surrogate dad than anyone could have guessed, and by film’s demolish things have all changed for the better. Definite, it’s a puny too great of a overjoyed Hollywood ending to be upright (OK, draw great too remarkable), but one doesn’t seek information from Shakespeare here, unbiased edifying, solid, captivating comedy with a heart. That’s typical John Hughes, and since he gives us so many well-behaved laughs we forgive him if it doesn’t always completely ring proper. “Uncle Buck” may be underrated among Hughes’s films, but it’s well worth remembering.

John Candy has his BEST performance EVER in this film by John Hughes. “Uncle” Buck Russell (Candy) is a perpetual screw-up who HAS to regain his act together enough to examine over his older brother’s three kids & dog, Tia, Miles, Maisy and puppy, Parsey since his sister-in-law’s father had a heart attack.

The cast includes Mac Culkin as Miles, Gaby Hoffman as Maisy, Amy Madigan as Buck’s girlfriend, Chanice Kobolowski, & Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne’s sister, Jackie) as the crazy neighbor lady, Marcie Dahlgren-Frost. Also billed in slight parts are Anna Chlumsky (My Girl), Patricia Arquette, and Devon Odessa (My So-Called Life) .

This film is totally hilarious but also has those incredible John Candy touching/sentimental moments.

A fantastic family film that can be watched over and over again!
